 Works perfectly so far December 22, 2008
Just remember that there is no sixaxis. This only applies to a few games, so for the most part, you're good to go. Haven't had a problem with Rock Band 2 (using a ps2 guitar from Guitar Hero 3) either.

The TAC PS2 to PS3 adapter did not live up to its claim of working with PS2 controllers. The support for this device is no existent from the TAC website or any other support for their products. The instructions with the aid of a large magnifying glass told only of the compatibility with certain guitars. Steer clear of this product you'll end up returning it.

I am not rating this product's ability to use Guitar Hero controllers. Instead, I am rating its ability to adapt dual shock and arcade stick controllers.
If you are playing a PS3 game, this will allow you to use some controllers from your PS2. It may not be perfect, and you may notice some lag. But it works. I suppose it works for PS2 guitar hero controllers on the PS3 version of the game, as well (but as stated, I could care less).
But if you are seeking an adapter to use PS2 controllers on PS2 games played using the backward compatibility of your PS3, you are out of luck. This adapter will not work with PS2 game discs. I attempted to play Namco Museum with my PS2 arcade stick. No dice with either the stick or a dual shock 2 controller.
This inability is not explained on the packaging, and it is not explained in Amazon's product description. Apparently, TAC (or whatever Chinese company this is) received enough complaints that they have placed a tiny piece of paper INSIDE the packaging to explain that "use of controllers on PS2 games is not supported."
Gee, thanks. Letting me know when I open the package, after I have purchased the thing, hoping that it lives up to its billing as a UNIVERSAL adapter, is really helpful.
So, one more time, with feeling: THIS ADAPTER IS FOR PS3 GAMES ONLY. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY PS2 GAMES OF ANY VARIETY WITH IT.
Caveat Emptor.

we were unable to find this adaptor in the local stores.
Glad to be able to use my different game systems;
I own several and update occasionally but cant afford to replace all when the manufacturer decides not to make the newest backwards compatable.

i bought this for dance dance revolution. bad idea. this was the only one out at the time and it wont work for ddr. cant use 2 buttons at the same time.
