2 out of 5 stars Requires Windows PC for cards larger than 8mb   June 15, 2008
This device works with some but not all PS2 memory cards. It works with my 64mb datel brand card, but not my 16mb one. It does not work with PS1 memory cards at all.

When you install the software and drivers on a Windows PC, you are able to make a backup copy of the memory cards data to the computer, and then if your card is larger than 8mb you can reformat it as an 8mb card and copy selected saves from your backup to the card, of course no more than will fit in 8mb. You can connect an ordinary 8mb card to a PS3 without needing a computer. A memory card that is formatted for more than 8mb will be treated by the PS3 as unformatted.

When you are done transferring data to the PS3 you can restore your backup to the memory card to put it back to the way it was.

Unless you want to be able to backup to a Windows PC(which would let you email saves to friends that also have this device), you are probably better off using the official Sony memory card adaptor which should be able to read PS1 memory cards also.

I have yet to test if you can copy saved data back to the memory card with this device.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work   April 15, 2008

Check Amazon UK for a few reviews. Mine is not recognized by the PS3 or the computer with the included drivers. Back to Gamestop tomorrow. An authorized Sony product is supposedly due in October.
